Laminated Beams and I-Beams
Laminated beams, known as lam beams, are used in construction to achieve long spans and aesthetic beauty. Due to the fact that they are laminated, they have greater strength than solid beams. Moreover, the lamination process means that one can achieve dimension and stability of form that would be impossible out of a solid log.
At Geelhoutvlei Timbers we use only high-density Southern Cape Radiata which gives the ultimate strength and stability to our lam beams. All our lam beams are graded to an S8 standard, although some of them would probably achieve a higher grade.
